A motorist north of the Twin Cities crossed the centerline and died in a head-on crash, authorities said.

The collision occurred about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 8 just west of Zuni Street NW. in Stanford Township, according to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office.

Kelsie M. Timm, 26, of Zimmerman, died in the crash, the Sheriff's Office said. The other driver, 22-year-old Matthew J. Foss, of Hampton, was evaluated at a nearby hospital and released.

Timm was heading east on County Road 8 about 5 miles north of St. Francis, strayed into the opposite lane and hit Foss' vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities have yet to explain why Timm crossed the centerline.

Timm's survivors include a 4-year-old daughter.
