A wrong-way driver caused a car crash on Hwy. 10 in Elk River Sunday morning, resulting in one death and another serious injury, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 92-year-old Elk River man was driving his Ford Ranger east in the westbound lane of Hwy. 10 near Main Street about 10:15 a.m. Sunday when it struck a Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling west. The driver of the Equinox was a 32-year-old woman from Big Lake.

One driver died while the other remains in serious condition, said Lt. Tiffani Nielson, State Patrol spokeswoman, though she didn't identify which person had died.

The State Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred on dry pavement.

The two parties' names will be released Monday morning at 9 a.m.
