Cover one: Purple Rain

Ontario-based illustrator Robert Carter depicts a scene reminiscent of Prince's 2007 Super Bowl performance.


Cover two: Young Prince

This 1977 photo (© Robert Whitman) was taken in a pop-up studio in the Kemps ice cream building in Minneapolis. See more of Whitman's work.


Cover three: Kiss

Prince is portrayed here by Robert Carter in a swirl of northern lights, which have also been known to light up Minnesota.
