Your 2015 Minnesota Twins

The Twins settled on their 25-man roster following Thursday's game. Chris Herrmann gets the final spot.

Chris Herrmann didn't know what to think when hitting coach Tom Brunansky told him the manager wanted to see him. But he soon found out.

Herrmann has been called up and sent down before but he had never made an Opening Day roster until Thursday when the Twins picked him over Josmil Pinto and Eric Fryer.

``I'm so used to getting called in and being sent back down," Herrmann said. ``So it's great to hear them say I'm going to be a part of this team. My heart is still pounding. I'm still nervous."

Herrmann, 27, batted .300 with a homer and 4 RBI in 23 games. He can play first base and also the corner outfield spots, versatility that Molitor liked.

``He can do a couple other things for us if need be," Molitor said.

Eric Fryer, a non-roster invite to camp, was reassigned to the minor league camp. He hit .281 with a homer.

``Eric Fryer had a really nice spring," Molitor said. ``We have a lot of faith in him and what he does with our pitching staff and how he has field awareness as a catcher, which is very important. He's worked hard on his offensive game and did a nice job."

Fryer played in 28 games last season and seemed on the verge of sticking on a major league roster.

``It's disappointing but I knew it was going to be pretty tough, not being on the roster," Fryer said. ``And a couple other non-roster guys were put on right before. It's tough to clear three guys right before camp breaks."

Josmil Pinto, who has the best offensive potential of the three but needs work defensively, was optioned for Class AAA Rochester. He's probably not sending holiday cards to Adam Jones anytime soon. It was Jones' backswing on March 21 that hit Pinto in the head, knocked him out for over a week and robbed him of any momentum he could have used to win the job.

``I think it's important for him to catch somewhere and get some at bats," Molitor said. ``It was good to see him play the last few days. He needs to play and get himself back to where we feel he can be to contribute to the team."

The last player left over is infielder Doug Bernier, who will finish camp with the team but has been told he's being sent to Rochester when camp ends. That get the Twins to 25 players.
