Decluttering, the Kondo way

January 12, 2018 at 7:53PM

• Gather everything in your home in a particular category (such as sweaters or coffee mugs) and lay all them out on a bed or table so you can see the full extent of what you have.

• As you handle each object, think about how it makes you feel. Do you like it? How often do you use it? Does it serve a purpose, or is it just taking up space? Does it spark joy? If it doesn't, thank it for its service, say goodbye and donate or discard it.

• Before you return what's left to your drawers and cupboards, think about how you use various items. Put those you use every day in the most easily accessible places.

• Master Kondo's vertical folding technique so you can see every item of clothing at a glance.
