"All we want is the answers and justice taken care of," said Dawn Pfister's stepmother, Bridget Johnson of Dallas.
Pfister, 34, and her boyfriend, Matthew Serbus, 36, were shot after leading police on a high-speed chase Feb. 7, crashing in Eden Prairie and emerging with a knife. Investigators said the two refused to put down the knife. After the investigation ends, the case will be forwarded to the Hennepin County attorney to review.
State statutes justify the use of deadly force by law enforcement to protect an officer or someone else from death or great bodily harm, among other reasons.
Serbus' friends held a vigil Saturday for the couple in Maple Grove.
