Hennepin County, Met Council seek input on Blue Line expansion to northern suburbs
The planned light-rail route would run from Target Field to Brooklyn Park, through Minneapolis, Crystal and Robbinsdale.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the NorthPoint Conference Center, 1256 N. Penn Ave. in Minneapolis. The Met Council is seeking input and approval from local governments, including Hennepin County, for preliminary plans for the light rail extension.
The planned route runs from Target Field northwest to Brooklyn Park, through Minneapolis, Crystal and Robbinsdale. Communities along the route must consent to the Met Council’s plans or offer alternatives.
The extension’s cost is expected to top $3 billion, split between federal funds and Hennepin County, and be operational in 2030.
