In ranking of each state's favorite Halloween candy, Minnesotans appear to be suckers

Well, at least we don't love candy corn.

Such are the findings from a new map showing the highest-selling Halloween candy in each state.

The online bulk candy seller CandyStore.com looked at 10 years of its sales data in order to come up with its "favorite Halloween candy" rankings.

Minnesota's most popular Halloween candy? Tootsie Pops.

Hmm, not as interesting as you'd hope, right? We love lollipops with a chewy chocolate center. OK, so what does this say about us? Are we cheap? (A single sucker only costs about 20 cents on that site.) Or maybe we're just nostalgic. Remember those classic commercials with the boy asking "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?" That nasty owl always knew the answer:

Whatever the case, we eat a lot of Tootsie Pops. Just from this single website, Minnesotans have bought 195,783 pounds of Tootsie Pops in the last 10 years. Moreover, CandyStore.com's interactive map (which you can view here) actually shows the top three most-popular candies in each state.

A close second in Minnesota is Skittles. We bought 194,672 pounds in that time period.

And the niche-loved Almond Joy came in third with 98,726 pounds.

Let's get back to candy corn here. Guess what? The most dominant first-place brand in these silly rankings is — wait for it — candy corn. A whopping six states claimed that love-it-or-hate-it Halloween candy at No. 1. (No, Wisconsin wasn't one of them so we can't make fun of our neighbors to the east.)

Here's the top head-scratcher in this map, though: Georgia is the biggest buyer of Swedish Fish. Sorta seems like Minnesota should have owned that one.
