Latest Snowfall Forecasts

Large portions of the United States continue to feel the full wrath ofwinter. Currently, it is bitterly cold through the CentWeather HeadlinesTue, 11 Jan 2011 15:19:15 ESTIWS0Tue, 11 Jan 2011 14:39:29 ESTKocet's CornerWhen the coastal storm takes over, heavier snow will break out during the firstpart of the night from eastern Maryland through eastern Pennsylvania and NewJersey. Later Tuesday night and Wednesday, the heavy snow will spread over NewEngland from south to north with Maine not getting into the thick of it untilthe afternoon.Snowfall from New Jersey to southern Maine will average 8 to 12 inches and asmaller band from central Long Island toward Worcester, Mass., getting morethan a foot. To the west, snowfall amounts will dwindle into the 3- to 6-inchrange.

With the storm growing much more intense Wednesday, it looks like there isgoing to be quite a bit of wind to deal with as well. The windiest area withgusts to 35 and 40 miles per hour is likely to be from New York City on to thenortheast. This will cause extensive blowing and drifting snow and occasionalwhite-out conditions.

So kids, here's the scoop. If you live in Connecticut, like I did many yearsago, you probably aren't going to school Wednesday, and there is likely to be amyriad of other cancellations. The same can be expected in Rhode Island andMassachusetts.
