Annandale area: Walleye action has been productive on Clearwater and Cedar lakes at 15 to 20 feet using nightcrawlers. Good northern action has been found on Clearwater, Sylvia, Granite and John lakes along weed lines using plastic or spinner baits. Bass are hitting on small leeches or plastic baits on most area lakes along weed edges.
Minnesota Fishing Report for July 27
Duluth area: Island and Fish lakes have provided anglers with the best walleye action at 20 feet using minnows or leeches. For bass on Island Lake, anglers are using buzzbaits or spinner rigs at shallow depths around structures. On Lake Superior, the best action has been north of Two Harbors to catch a mixed bag of lake trout or coho salmon at around 50 feet trolling with spoons.
Hackensack area: The best lake in the area for walleyes has been Woman Lake at 25 to 40 feet along humps using nightcrawlers or big red-tail minnows. On Birch or Pleasant lakes, northerns are taking spinner baits or sucker minnows along weed lines. Bass and panfish are active on most area lakes along weed lines.
Lake Minnetonka: The evening hours have been the best time to catch walleyes using leeches with Lindy Rigs at 12 to 18 feet or at 32 to 35 feet on the western bays. Good bass or northern action has been along weed flats at 12 to 15 feet using jigs or spinner baits. The musky bite during the evenings has been productive using top water baits along big flats.
Lake of the Woods: Anglers are mainly jigging and drifting with spinners for walleyes from Garden Island to the Lighthouse Gap. Around Little Oak Island, anglers are finding walleyes at 25 to 30 feet around reefs or humps using spinner baits or bottom bouncers. Shady and Four Blocks Islands also have been productive working the reefs and points.
Perham area: Rush and Ottertail lakes have provided anglers with a few walleyes at 16 to 25 feet using leeches and nightcrawlers. Rush, Ottertail and Lake Sally are giving up northerns along weed lines using spoons or sucker minnows. Good bass action has been on Buchanon Lake using plastic baits or spinner baits along weed lines at 10 feet.
