Nearly a third of the spending would go toward highway improvements. The measure includes an additional $227 million for local road and bridge repairs, $130 million for water infrastructure projects, and $137 million for higher education.
House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown praised the proposal's focus on infrastructure, saying in a statement, "It's been my goal since the start of session to put together a bonding proposal that all sides can vote for, and this bill does just that."
The measure sets aside money for U.S. Highway 12 in Hennepin County and the Highway 212 interchange in Chaska, along with funding to improve I-35W and Lake Drive and the I-94 and Brockton Lane interchange.
Additionally, the bill calls for $34 million for the Department of Natural Resources to spend on mitigating flood hazards, repairing dams and developing trails.
The House Capital Investment Committee will take up the bill at 10:30 today.
