If you thought St. Vincent sounded too arty when she played Walker Art Center in October, you can see if she'll rock out more when she returns May 12 to First Avenue. The return engagement is part of St. Vincent's spring tour, which begins April 14 at the Coachella festival in Indio, Calif. She's still promoting her third album, "Strange Mercy," which appeared on many best-of lists for 2011. The album ranked 12th in the Village Voice's annual Pazz and Jop poll, which surveyed 700 critics this time. St. Vincent performed at First Ave in 2009 when she was the indie rock It girl. The club has not yet announced the on-sale date for tickets for the May 12 gig. .
