After a hiatus that allowed viewers to digest their lunches, "Fear the Walking Dead" returns with new episodes in which Nick (Frank Dillane) trades his addiction to heroin to his obsession with the infected. Is it any wonder he ends up in Tijuana?

Winners' circle
In the past, NBC has used the closing weekend of the Olympics to showcase new programming. This time, the host network is rallying around established series, starting with a sports-themed episode of "Superstore" (9:30 p.m. Friday), the America Ferrera-anchored sitcom that tricks you into thinking big-box shopping marts are a hoot, and a preview episode of "The Voice" (9:30 p.m. Sunday), where all eyes will be on new judges Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus. The season officially starts Sept. 19.

Down that ol' dusty trail
Cowboy No. 1: "You're looking for trouble." Cowboy No. 2: "I was born for it." That kind of dime-store dialogue would be intolerable in most TV Westerns, but it's kind of a kick when delivered by veteran farmhands like Jon Voight and James Caan in "J.L. Family Ranch," an otherwise ridiculous movie about a family squabble that results in a showdown with federal agents. Melanie Griffith and Steven Bauer are along for the ride, which at times resembles a recruitment video for the NRA.

Bull run
Just because athletes are departing Rio doesn't mean South American competitors will suddenly join the shuffleboard circuit. "Fearless," a six-part documentary series, rides alongside Brazilian bull riders as they buck their way from Sao Paulo to the world finals in Las Vegas.
