The 26.2 mile course began in downtown Minneapolis and ended at the state capitol in St. Paul. TWIN CITIES MARATHON

When: Sunday. Marathon begins at 8 a.m., the TC 10 Mile at 7 a.m.

Where: Starts at the former Metrodome site in Minneapolis, ends at the Capitol in St. Paul.

What: USA national championship marathon.

Purse: $145,000. Male and female winners of the U.S. titles earn $25,000. Course records earn another $25,000.

Course records: 2:10:05, by Phil Coppess, 1985. Women: 2:26:51 by Zinaida Semenova, 2001, and Irina Permitina, 2004.

Defending champions: Nick Arciniaga 2:13:12. Annie Bersagel 2:30:52. Neither is entered this year.

Male top seeds: Sergio Reyes, 32, Palmdale, Calif., 2:13:34 personal best; Tyler McCandless, 27, Boulder, Colo., 2:16:46; Ian Burrell, 29, Colorado Springs, 2:13:26; Sean Quigley, 29, Concord, Mass., 2:14:12.

Female top seeds: Jeannette Faber, 32, Pegram, Tenn., 2:32:37; Esther Erb, 28, Richmond, Va., 2:33:15; Meghan Peyton, 28, Richfield, 2:38:56; Brianne Nelson, 33, Golden, Colo., 2:34:42.

Marathon entrants: 11,908 total; 6,396 males, 5,512 females. From Minnesota, 7,909. Average age: Male, 35. Female, 39.

TC 10 Mile participants: 9,997 total; 3,722 males, 6,275 females. From Minnesota, 9,135.
