On the campaign trail: T-shirt at Trump's MSP rally threatens journalists

November 7, 2016 at 4:42AM

At least one person at Donald Trump's campaign rally at MSP airport Sunday wore a T-shirt with an overt anti-journalist threat. A photograph by Reuters showed a man wearing a preprinted T-shirt that read "Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required." The image quickly circulated on Twitter, accompanied by condemning comments, including from Jason DeRusha, a host at WCCO, who called it "disgusting."

Franken calls Trump ad anti-Semitic
Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., suggested on CNN's "State of the Union" that Donald Trump's "Argument for America" ad plays on an insidious chord that has been a rallying point for politicians for decades: anti-Semitism. Franken joined a chorus of people who have criticized the two-minute ad's undertones since it was released on Friday. It focuses heavily on what Trump calls the political and economic machine of the world, and the people he suggests operate it. The Anti-Defamation League also seized on the ad, saying it conjured "painful stereotypes and baseless conspiracy theories."
