Today's trophy tales

Jess Louwagie, Minnetonka • 37-inch northern pike • Jordan Lake, BWCA

Near sunset on the third day of a six-day BWCA outing, Louwagie and friends Mark Holehouse and Mark Delaney made one more stop before calling it a day. It took nearly 25 minutes to corral this northern into an undersized net.

Nothing to carp about: Connor Radtke, 11, from Lester Prairie, Minn., was using nightcrawlers to fish for walleyes on Bell Lake near Hutchinson when he caught this 21-pound, 32-inch carp.

Caught his attention: Dave Jakupciak, of Afton, caught this 29-inch splake on a small BWCA lake. Jakupciak realized it wasn't a snag when the fish started pulling his canoe.

Trophy Tales: To be considered for our fishing page, e-mail your photo and story to fishphoto@startribune.com. Identify anglers and where they live, and include a brief tale, including where and how it was caught. You can also post photos on Trophy Tales at startribune.com/outdoors.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
