He's in! Minnesota's Nicholas David makes "The Voice" finale

Fifty-eight minutes into Tuesday's episode, Twin Cities singer Nicholas David (Mrozinski) finally found out he is moving on to the top three and next week's finale on NBC's "The Voice."

He and Cee-Lo teammate, Trevin Hunte, were the last contestants standing, after Cassadee Pope and Peter Noone lookalike Terry McDermott were voted through earlier in the show. The show's producers clearly had drama in mind by leaving the two R&B-influenced teammates till the end. They sang each other's praise and then sang together on the ultra-mushy Mariah Carey hit "Hero." But there was no getting around the fact one of them had to go home.

An especially memorable moment came shortly before the second finalist was revealed, when Nick talked about being away from his family the same way he did in our profile of him in Sunday's paper. Carson Daly asked Nicholas about finally being reunited with his wife, Krista, and their young boys, who were in the audience (the 1-year-old wearing giant ear-protection headphones). His response: "It has truly been the hardest thing in my life. I've been with my gal since the day I met her." Looking out at Krista, he added, "I couldn't have done this without you."

Mrozinski similarly addressed his family with his performance on Monday by dedicating his winning song, Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful," to them. Cee-Lo said afterward, "It was so heartfelt, so beautiful." Adam Levine then called Nick "one of the most soulful people I've ever met."
