Fashion: Local Artist Jewelry Mart
By Jahna Peloquin
Just in time for Mother's Day, the Walker Shop is back with its popular Local Artist Jewelry Mart. The daylong trunk show showcases one-of-a-kind pieces by 19 local jewelry artists and designers -- most of whom are not usually carried at the shop. Offerings include the minimal, nature-themed designs of Carrier Pigeon, the modern art-inspired work of silvercocoon, the quirky and humorous Lefthand Originals and the vintage-inspired, whimsical designs of Renee Larson.

Clothes Have Dreams Too
On the heels of April's Sol Inspirations show comes yet another eco-fashion style challenge. For "Clothes Have Dreams Too," 15 local designers will craft designs out of 45 previously worn garments from the St. Paul consignment store Express Yourself. Competing designers include 2011 University of Minnesota student standouts Laura Henslin, Heather King, Carol Lee and Elise Diebl, plus local favorites Kathryn Sterner and Niki English.
